Draw frames, text and stacks

Draw new layers with the tools, and wrap layers in a frame, a group or a stack.

Draw with a tool

Press a tool's key on the canvas, then drag where the layer should go. For a text, a click is enough: type straight away.

  • Frame tool: F
  • Stack tool: S
  • Text tool: T
  • Rounded frame tool: U
  • Oval tool: O
  • Rows tool, Columns tool and Grid tool: Shift+R, Shift+C and Shift+G

The tool stays on until you draw a layer, then the selection tool comes back. Esc turns a tool off. The tools are also in the tool menu in the top bar.

Wrap layers

Select one or more layers, then:

  • Wrap in frame (⌘↩, Ctrl+Enter on Windows) puts them in a new frame.
  • Group (⌘G) does the same, by the name you may know from other tools.
  • Wrap in stack (⌘⌥↩) puts them in a new stack, and Wrap in fitting stack (Shift+A) in a stack that takes their layout.
  • Wrap in a section is in the command palette.

Remove wrapper (⌘⌫) and Ungroup (⇧⌘G) take the layers back out and remove the frame around them.
