Find your way around the editor
The parts of the editor, how to zoom and move around the canvas, and the keys that take you to each panel.
The editor has four parts: the top bar, the left panel, the canvas in the middle and the Properties panel on the right.
The parts of the editor
- Top bar: the project menu, the tools, the breakpoints, the zoom, Version history, Preview and Publish.
- Left panel: the Pages, Layers, Insert and Assets tabs.
- Canvas: the open page, once for each breakpoint, side by side. Click a layer to select it.
- Properties: the settings of the selected layer.
Hide or show panels (⌘\ on a Mac, Ctrl+\ on Windows) gives the canvas the whole window.
Zoom and move around
- Zoom in with ⌘= (Ctrl+= on Windows) and Zoom out with ⌘- (Ctrl+-), or use the zoom menu in the top bar.
- Shift+0 zooms to 100 %, Shift+1 fits every frame in the window, and Shift+2 zooms to the selection.
- Hold Space and drag to pan the canvas. The Zoom tool (Z) zooms to a rectangle you drag.
Undo and redo
Undo with ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) and Redo with ⇧⌘Z (Ctrl+Shift+Z, or Ctrl+Y). Undo takes you back to the page and the selection where the change was made.
Work with the keyboard
- The Command palette (⌘K, Ctrl+K on Windows) finds any command by its name and shows its keys. Open Keyboard shortcuts from it to see them all.
- Option+Shift+1, 2 and 3 (Alt+Shift on Windows) open Pages, Layers and Assets, and the keyboard goes with them.
- On the canvas, Enter selects the children of the selected layer, Esc its parent, and Tab the next layer at the same level.
