Preview, restore versions and publish

Check your site in the preview, go back to an earlier version, and publish to staging or to your live site.

Preview

Preview (⌘P, Ctrl+P on Windows) shows the site as visitors see it, at the width of a breakpoint. Preview the next breakpoint (⌘.) and Preview the previous breakpoint (⌘,) switch widths. Close preview or Esc takes you back to the editor.

Version history

Version history (⇧⌘H) lists the versions of your site, newest first. Xeek Sites saves versions by itself, for example before each publish, and Save version saves one with a name you choose.

  • Preview a version to see how the site was then. Nothing changes until you restore it.
  • Restore brings that version back. The message after it has an Undo button. Translations and collections stay as they are.
  • Back to the current version leaves the preview.

Publish

  1. Open Publish (⇧⌘P).
  2. Under Publish to, choose Staging, a private copy only your team can open, or Production, your live site. Your role decides which you may choose.
  3. What changes lists the pages that changed since the last publish.
  4. Checks lists problems. Errors block publishing until you fix them. Facts marked for checking and sample content from the library can be confirmed one by one with Confirm; that removes the mark from your site. Click a problem to go to its layer.
  5. Click Publish to staging or Publish to production. The dialog follows the publish to its end, with a link to Open the live site.

You can keep editing while it publishes. Your email address must be verified before you can publish.
