Add images, video and embeds

Upload or paste images, describe them, set their focal point, add videos or YouTube and Vimeo links, and embed other pages.

Images

  • Drag image files onto the canvas, paste an image, or choose Image in Insert. Upload image is also in the command palette.
  • Uploads show their progress under Uploads. A new file is checked before it can be published.
  • In the Image section of Properties:
    • Describe the image for people who use a screen reader, or mark it Decorative (screen readers skip it).
    • Fit decides how the image fills its frame: Cover, Contain, Stretch or Original size.
    • Focal point keeps the important part of the image in view when it is cropped.
    • Replace swaps the file and keeps the settings.

Video

  • Choose Video in Insert, then upload a video file or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link.
  • In the Video section: Autoplay, Controls, Loop, Muted and a Poster image shown before it plays. A video that plays by itself is muted: browsers allow nothing else.

Embeds and SVG

  • An Embed shows a page from another site, or your own HTML. Only people allowed to add code to the site see it.
  • Give an SVG drawing a Title so screen readers announce it. Without one, screen readers skip it as decoration.

Open an image in a lightbox

A lightbox shows the image enlarged when a visitor clicks it.

  1. Select the image.
  2. In Properties, turn on Open in a lightbox when clicked.
  3. To browse several images together, give them the same Gallery name.

The lightbox uses these rules:

  • Its caption comes from the image's alt text.
  • Visitors browse a gallery with the arrow keys.
  • Images browse in the order they appear on the page. Images with no gallery name browse together.
  • Photos in a collection list appear in list order.
