Save a section for your other sites

Keep a section of one site as your organization’s own, for every site of the organization to add.

Select a layer in the section, open the command palette (⌘K, Ctrl+K on Windows) and choose Save as section…. Owners, admins and designers have it.

Choose what each site fills in

Give the section a Name and a Kind of section. What each site fills in lists the section's texts and images. Each one is a slot: a site that adds the section writes its own text there, or shows its own photo.

  • Rename a slot so it says what it holds.
  • Untick a text to keep it as it is on every site, such as a short label.
  • Every image keeps its slot, since each site shows its own photo.

When the dialog says the AI named the slots, it named them by what they hold and left out the texts every site would keep. Check them before you save.

Save and check

Save section runs the library's checks first. If one fails, nothing is saved, and the dialog lists what to fix, each with Show the layer. Then the section is checked at phone, tablet and desktop widths, which can take a few minutes. You can close the dialog meanwhile: the section joins the Insert panel of every site of your organization once it passes, and the AI can use it too. Saving it again makes its next version.
