Edit a page in place

Change a page's texts, images and component content where they are, as the page looks live, and submit your edits for review.

On-page editing shows a page as it looks live and lets you change its content where it is: texts, images, and the text, image and link properties of components. The design stays as it is. Your edits are kept apart from the site until someone who may publish reviews and merges them. On-page editing is reaching workspaces in stages, so you may not see it yet.

Open a page

  • From your sites, open a site's menu and choose Edit the home page.
  • In the editor's Pages panel, open a page's menu and choose Edit this page.
  • From a published page: open the editor's address followed by /on-page?url= and the page's address, for example /on-page?url=https://example.com/contact. The page opens in the language of its address, if it's one of your sites.

The page shows at the width of your window, without the editor's panels. The bar at the top picks another page or language, submits your edits, and exits.

The page shows the site as it is in the editor, which may include changes that aren't published yet. When it does, the bar says This page has changes that aren't live yet.

Change the content

  • A text: click it and type. Press Esc or click outside it when you're done.
  • An image: click it. Beside the page, Replace picks another picture, and you can change its alt text and focal point.
  • A component: click it. Beside the page you see its text, image and link properties.
  • An item in a list: click a text or image that shows a collection's item, such as a blog post's title in a list of posts. The item opens beside the page: change its fields there. Your changes go with your other edits.

Layout, styles and the page's structure can't be changed here. Your changes apply at every screen width.

Submit your edits for review

Choose Submit for review. Someone who may publish sees your edits, reviews them and merges them into the site. Until then, the page only shows your edits and you can't change it here. Your edits stay yours while you work on them: they're kept until you submit them, and edits left untouched for 30 days are put aside.

Review submitted edits

If you may publish, submitted edits are listed under Submitted edits in the editor's branch menu. Open them to see them on the page, then choose Merge into main…: the changes are listed by page. Merge them, and the site's Publish dialog opens. Or choose Send back… and write what to change: the editor sees your note on the page and can edit again.

Publish your own edits

Where your workspace lets content editors publish, Publish my edits merges your edits into the site at once and opens the Publish dialog. If someone changed the same content meanwhile, submit your edits for review instead.
