Share components between sites
Publish a site's components as a library of your workspace, use them in its other sites, update them when a new version comes out, and insert icons from vector sets.
A workspace library lets the sites of one workspace share components: a header, a card or a set of icons, designed once. One site publishes them, the others add them, and each site decides when to take an update. This is reaching workspaces in stages, so you may not see it yet.
Share a site's components
- In the site menu, choose Workspace library…, then Share.
- Choose Share this site's components with the workspace.
- Under Components to publish, pick them, and add Release notes for the other sites.
- Choose Publish version 1. The next release is version 2, and so on: Releases lists them.
A release keeps the components as they are now, with everything they use: the components inside them, their tokens, text styles and fonts. It never changes afterwards, so a site that uses version 1 keeps exactly that. If a component uses something that can't go with it, it isn't published, and the dialog says so.
Use another site's components
- In the site menu, choose Workspace library…, then Use. Each library of your workspace is listed, with the components this site already has from it.
- Choose Add components…, pick them under Components to add, and choose Add to this site. Insert them from the Components panel, as your own.
Adding is one step: Undo takes it back.
Take an update
When a library publishes a new release, it shows Update to version N. Nothing updates by itself: choose it, and the update opens for review first, so you can see what changes on your pages before you accept it or discard it.
Unlink makes a component the site's own: it keeps it as it is and takes no more updates.
Vector sets
A library whose components are vector icons is a vector set. In the Insert panel, Vector sets shows their icons: a click inserts one next to your selection. Its colour and stroke can be changed on each instance, and a set can offer variants such as filled and outline. An icon the site doesn't have yet comes from the set's latest release.
